A Vision …

I began Skyegrove with a vision to create a project, where communities can learn how to be more self-sufficient in producing their own food while at the same time creating havens for wildlife. The project is continuing to develop and evolve.

Using Traditional Farming Methods

Kevin Austin
Skyegrove Owner

I have farmed all my life, both in the UK and New Zealand. Throughout my life I’ve had a passion for growing vegetables and being as self sufficient as possible.

On returning to Cornwall from New Zealand I wanted to be part of a change in the way we live on our planet, and I worked for 18 years at the Eden Project mainly as the Crops Supervisor of the Crop Exhibits and later as Estates Supervisor. I deem it an honour to have been an integral part of it’s evolution.

I am passionate about traditional land management methods and promoting the use of handheld tools where possible; scything, hedge-laying, woodland management, and setting up traditional hay-meadows. Also hoping to help the revival of these lost crafts where man and nature worked in harmony, without reliance on the oil industry.
