International Peening Day 2018

Skyegrove Penning Day 2018

Thanks to everyone for attending the Skyegrove International Peening Day. A cold blustery day made it not particularly good conditions, but luckily the barn was useful and the pigs kept us entertained especially when the afternoon cakes came out.

Elle getting master peening instructions from Anthony. The group pictured are from the Pentiddy Natural Burial Ground.

Pentiddy Open Day & Scything

Pentiddy LogoJust to let you know, Pentiddy Natural burial grounds will be having their first open day on the 8th of April with over 30 craft stalls, workshops, talks, and produce stalls. Kevin from Skyegrove will be holding a scything workshop and demonstration for novices and experienced scythers.

Don’t forget that it is International Peening day on the 2nd of April, but SkyeGrove will be holding a Peen and Meet Day for scythers on the Sunday 9th of April.

Scything Demonstration

After winning the Scything Championship the weekend before, Kevin gave a Scything Demo at Skyegrove on Saturday the 18th of June 2016.

The time taken to complete the 1/4 acre field was 57 minutes 50 seconds, however,  Kevin did stop to talk to someone for around 5 minutes.

Please enjoy the video of the demo below:-

International Peening Day 2016

International Peening Day — Internationl Peening Day 2016Sunday 3rd April 2016

On a very wet Sunday morning (hence in the poly tunnel !) scythe enthusiasts gathered at SkyeGrove to clean and peen their blades in preparation for the mowing season, this is an international annual event. Great to catch up with fellow scythers and big thanks to Janice for wonderful homemade flapjacks
